that one time i wanted to know what i looked like while having an animated conversation.

- - - - - -
as a child, one of my favorite toys was a voice recorder. my parents were unconventional, i suppose. no barbie jeeps or teddy bears over here, just rejected office supplies ( but also i thought i was a dog with my derek-neighbor + i played with barbies until i was like...thirteen. that's besides the point.). i thought it was so jarring to hear the sound of my own voice + got an absolute kick out of replaying it over + over again + making myself sound like a chipmunk with the fast forward button. self entertainment at it's finest! ...also the start of my narcissism, but aren't all bloggers?

today i reached a new level of low. or narcissism. toe-may-toes, toe-mah-toes. but actually it's toe-may-toes.
i texted my mom in an attempt to walk down memory lane about my love affair with the voice recorder. i wanted to sort out the details + figure out how old i was + when my parents decided it had gone on too long and took it away from me + also could they mail it to me because i really wanted to hear the sound of my own voice today.

i know, i know. it's bizarre.

anyways, i spent a good fifteen minutes talking to myself today on my macbook. i couldn't stop! i wanted to see what it looked like when i was talking from the side + how my face looked when i was surprised + how loud i chewed cereal. the important things, you know.

i actually think i may be going insane. who's going to give me a diagnosis?
here's the last of the videos. it is sort of a conclusion to all my findings. it's also where i realize how insane i was being. all good things to share to the blogging world.

onwards. i call this brooke in real life or the tipping point of my sanity or how i like my face from afar or why did i keep touching my hair?! or, quite possibly, the diary of amanda bynes 2.0. enjoy with popcorn.

happy friday, folks!

a little jeff + brooke pre-stapleton video.

Monday, April 15, 2013

it's 1:36 a.m. which is far past my strict 10:30 bedtime. naturally, i am googling myself.

stumbled upon this gem of a video. it played during our reception on a television near the presents + sign-in and, unfortunately, quite the crowd gathered to watch it. behold: brooke on camera. lots of strange facial expressions, misunderstood sarcasm, and is that an ohio accent i hear?

side note: i didn't totally get cut from my basketball team senior year. it was more like a...please take your attitude + antics home type of plea. almost? hahaha. almost. and who actually knows why it says wondershare at the top nor why it gets suddenly super loud every time i speak (oh wait, that's just probably my voice?).

goodnight + good morning, folks. happy monday to you all. i'm probably still googling myself as you read this...

our little christmas card...

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

can we talk about how there are only two weeks till christmas? two weeks! that's like, two thursdays! or the time it took me to burn through all seven seasons of how i met your mother...but that's besides the point. dreams of days without any obligations and  homecooked meals is really what is getting me through this l o n g week of finals...which i am truthfully not too terribly stressed out for? is that so bad?

anyways, in the midst of it all, my cousin ryne + i (and jeff! isn't his scruff the best? it's the best) made a little virtual christmas card of sorts. it only seems appropriate to post it two weeks early, right?

p.s. if anyone wants a video like this done, we are doing them on the cheap! they are such a fun little thing to have, right? and please love that it says featuring simply brooke as much as i do? i feel like a famous rapper or something! ha.

sucking on the marrow of life, i say!

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

sometimes late at night, i have the itch to stay awake until my eyes weigh thirty pounds. it's just one of the many weird parts of being brooke? i'm so spontaneous! and interesting! last night at eleven, i started to get the itch. i can feel it coming, you know. it usually starts with two bowls of cereal, heavy internet surfing, and a sudden urge to make a list and some rash decision.

after a generous serving of honey bunches of oats (sadly, significantly better than the knock-off brand, come ON western family!) and a long stare into the mirror debating the state of my eyebrows, i needed a movie. i'm fairly high-maittenance when it comes to movie-watching. i only like watching movies in theaters with a large soda + popcorn combo (and i will always complain about the price), or at eleven p.m. on my computer. again, i'm spontaneous! and interesting!

i consulted the movie-lords and chose dead poets society...primarily based on the fact that it stared robin williams and i've never quite gotten over him in hook. you guys! my life is forever changed. or something like that? maybe i was just in a state of IT IS 2 A.M. delirium?

but have you seen this movie? see this movie.

oh captain, my captain.

my blonde-friend morgan showed me this video tonight -- TFF! (too freaking funny)

p.s. don't you think sharing youtube videos is like, the most personal/horrifying thing since revealing how much you weigh during the winter months? (i'm dense, okay?) every time i share one with a group i end up just staring at the other people and judging the sincerity of their laugh. i know a pity laugh when i hear one, mom...

the proposal + video!

Friday, March 23, 2012

a little background (other wise known as: the entire story): i had just gotten off work and he asked me if i wanted to go to a concert. i suspected NOTHING. once we got there, i started noticing that i knew 99.3% of the people who were there–so popular! i started chatting away and completely lost track of where he had wandered off to (in fact, i told one friend that i was purposely avoiding him because we both were wearing blazers and there should only be ONE blazer per group!). all of a sudden, i look up on stage and there he is! he asked me to come up and i took my sweet time (all the while giving him the death glare and trying to telepathically say DO NOT SING JEFF! YOU ARE NOT A SINGER JEFF!). once on stage (still suspecting nothing!), he told me all these really sweet things (why are you telling me this NOW?! can’t you tell me this in the car, jeff?!) AND THEN GOT DOWN ON ONE KNEE. what?! i was NOT expecting it at all! i had told my mom that i was sure he was going to propose in the next few months but figured it would be when we were at his home in california or after winter semester had ended. but nope! he got down on one knee right THEN on march 10th (he told me that he heeded to beyonce’s advice: he liked it, so he put a ring on it–a simple man, that one!). i was really, REALLY excited but really, REALLY confused? had he talked to my dad? through gritted teeth i  whisper-yelled “…oh my gosh? have you talked to my dad?” to which he responded “yes, of course!” to which i responded “yes! of course i’ll marry you!”

…and then we ran off stage because i was getting antsy.

the end!

my crazy talented friend andrew storer was fortunately there (…as was about 353 other people who i knew! it was SO cool!) and filmed the entire thing! this is a short little video that he made of the night.

*also, the song playing in the back is by the band that was playing there, robert & the carrols. it was SUCH a special night! did mention that jeff planned an entire concert just to propose?! and had a fancy little sign made and invited all of my friends?! and that i am engaged to be married to him?! winning!

sundayness: it's a new year!

Sunday, January 8, 2012

i really liked this. i like the idea that the best is yet to come and the future is crazy bright. like the lime green dress i wore today type bright. we just have to look forward! hello, forward! you look bright!
i like that god has this plan all worked out for me (PLEASE let it include some scruffy-man-deliciousness!) and you and that “…what god has for me is bigger and better than what i have going on right now.” it’s comforting, no?
p.s. how good does the food they’re eating look? grilled cheese craving: ready, go!

remix'd.

Monday, December 5, 2011

once upon a saturday, my friends lindsay, josh, landon and i had run out of fun things to do. we were in salt lake city earlier that day watching the cougars play the ducks ($4.00 for a large pop!) and had just gotten back from the riverwoods where we walked in and out of stores and shared a chocolate bar four ways (…whilst reenacting charlie and the chocolate factory; i was the bedridden grandma georgina).
like most attractive young adults, lindsay had a date scheduled for later that night and was leaving us. she let us stay in her apartment where we ate all of her cheese and debated reasons for our dateless friday.
that got boring quickly (the answer was too obvious) and we three were all in the mood to dance and sing. well, i was.
five hours later, a music video was born.
it was one of those things that started out really spontaneous but ended up being a full-blown choreographed production. all done in lindsay’s apartment. while she was out on a date.
behold: book of mormon stories remix’d.
p.s. please ignore the entire part where my face is in the camera. i ran out of facial expressions and was trying to hold in my giggle snorts.

we’re definitely going viral.

The cute little lovestruck couples all over Provotown are really toying with my heart strings.

cold, cold day.

I saw ‘The Town’ for the second time in theaters. It is by far one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time and really makes me want to get with a scruffy-yet-sensitive criminal, is that a bad thing? Probably.
